When you call our office for the first time, the receptionist may ask you a few questions to determine the most appropriate specialist you should meet and to determine your insurance coverage. Appointments can usually be made within a week after you call. If you need to see one of our specialists immediately, we will do our best to schedule a time for you as soon as possible.

What to Expect
Pedorthics & Orthotics
- When meeting with a pedorthist for the first time, your appointment will usually last about 30 minutes. It is helpful for you to bring any products that you have tried as well as the shoes that you wear most frequently. Your practitioner will ask you what your primary problem or complaint is, what solutions you have tried and what has or has not worked. This and any additional information our specialist can examine physically will allow him/her to discuss your options as well as advise you with recommendations for future care. Recommendations can range from new footwear to a custom fabricated solution.
- Resource O&P will work with your insurance company to determine your benefits and will contact you to relay your out-of-pocket costs, if any. Please keep in mind that quoted benefits are not a guarantee of payment. If you are ready to proceed, a follow-up appointment can be made at this time.
- In your follow-up appointment, your specialist will want to determine two things: fit and function. This appointment will typically last about 20-30 minutes.
- Within the next 90-days, you are typically allowed three follow-up visits free of charge to ensure that everything is working well in your day-to-day activities and that you are feeling better.
- Our products are made to last as long as possible and our clinicians are extremely hands-on when it comes to the design and creation of your orthotic. You can usually expect 2-4 years of wear depending on use.
Prosthetics
- During your first appointment with Resource O&P, our prosthetist will take a series of measurements of your residual limb and cast you to ensure a comfortable fit of the socket. The socket is the hollow part on the top of the prosthesis where the residual limb is placed. This will enable you to get a temporary prosthesis. This appointment will typically last one hour to an hour and 15 minutes.
- Several months after the residual limb has reached a stable size and shape, you will be evaluated for a long-term prosthesis, which will be more cosmetically finished than your temporary prosthesis. Fitting of this prosthesis will require numerous visits and will take a few weeks to complete.
- You should plan on at least two appointments per year with your prosthetist to ensure a solid fit and that your device remains safe and functional.
